只关心表面现象？

今天回家的班车上和一位老师聊天，聊起了研究生复试的内容。旁边的一个兄弟明天要参加复试。老师问了我们为什么能进行虚存管理……看起来很简单的问题，我说了很多，比如减少换页，地址不一定要连续，地址空间连续之类的……但是我说的都是现象而不是问题的本质。最后老师说了答案，其实很简单……
难道这就是工程硕士和工学硕士的区别吗？我是否应该在离开工大前去听一听当年没有好好学过的课程呢？

我认为是因为现代处理器支持非连续的存储管理(分段/分页)，以及由于访问的局部性原理，可以将具体的作业实体的部分换入和换出。 应该是什么？
